Visit HERE to find out more about the new Amazon $15 wage. Employees at Whole Foods, which Amazon now owns, will get the same pay hike. This will benefit more than 250,000 Amazon employees, as well as over 100,000 seasonal employees who will be hired at Amazon sites across the country this holiday.

Amazon has raised its minimum wage for British and American workers, in a major milestone for campaigners pushing for pay increases to tackle rising levels of poverty and inequality in both countries.

Critics, including independent Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, have criticized Amazon for not paying workers enough. "The current rate of $7.25 was set almost a decade ago". Its starting pay is $10 an hour at a warehouse in Austin, Texas, and $13.50 an hour in Robbinsville, New Jersey.

Amazon, which became the second company to cross $1 trillion market value last month, on average paid employees $28,446 past year. Last month it became the second publicly traded company to be worth $1 trillion, hot on the heels of Apple. That's the fastest annual gain since the Great Recession ended.

That could be good news for numerous Internet giant's workers across North Carolina. It appears that the company is also eliminating incentive and productivity targets, and will increase the pay of those who were already making $15 an hour.

This increase in wage will be effective starting November 1st.

On Tuesday, fast food workers in MI are going to kick off a series of protests in the Midwest and elsewhere around the country in support of unions and a $15 minimum age.

Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders has been vocal about low wages paid at US corporations and has proposed legislation, nicknamed the "Bezos Bill", aimed at making large corporations pay workers more.

The move will benefit 250,000 workers in the United States, and 17,000 in the UK, and an estimated 20,000 seasonal workers.
