His statement lasted almost 10 minutes before the president chimed in to compliment West on his honesty.
"He's a different kind of guy and that's OK with me".
West was invited to the White House to have lunch with the president, former National Football League star Jim Brown, and the president's son-in-law and top adviser Jared Kushner to discuss manufacturing, prison reform and gang violence.
West also had some clarifications about his mental health, a hot topic following his appearance on "Saturday Night Live" on September 30.
West was impressed. "Day One, solved one of his biggest problems", the rapper said. "So he said that I actually wasn't bipolar, I had sleep deprivation, which could cause dementia 10 to 20 years from now where I wouldn't even remember my son's name".
"I love this guy right here", West said, walking behind the desk to hug the seated president, who said: "That's really nice".
From there, West discussed prison reform and violence in inner-city Chicago.
"That was quite something", said Trump, who was joined in the Oval Office by Hall of Fame NFL running back Jim Brown, who smiled and sat quietly through most of event.
He repeatedly mentioned the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, which outlawed slavery.
During a meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday, the Grammy-winning rapper unlocked his iPhone simply using the passcode "000000", apparently to show the president an animated GIF.
"This right here is the iPlane 1", he said. It's a hydrogen-powered airplane, and this is what our president should be flying in. This is our president. I didn't rank them in any set order, because how in the world would you even do that? "You gave me the heart to go to adidas because at adidas, when I went in in 2015, we were a $14 billion company losing $2 billion a year". The president responded by saying, "I don't wanna put you in that spot". "I just channelled it", the musician said.
He told Trump he had stopped a potential war with North Korea. "That's the best he could do for me". Trump, who recently touted stop-and-frisk, told West he is willing to talk about other solutions.
However earlier this week, Mr Trump called on Chicago to adopt the strategy, in which large numbers of people are temporarily detained, questioned and sometimes searched for drugs and weapons.
TMZ obtained photos of Trump in the Make America Great hat, alongside a beaming Kanye, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. How is it possible that the same man who said "George Bush doesn't care about black people" on national television is the same dude rocking a MAGA hat and lauding Trump?
Trump and West previously appeared together shortly after Trump's 2016 election in the lobby of Trump Tower in NY.
West indicated that Trump has "solved" the U.S.
Kanye told Trump that, "as a guy", he looks up to him and to "American industry guys, non political, no bullshit...goes in and gets it done". "He is my brother", West wrote.
Both Brown and West have been vocal supporters of the president.
