Huawei also announced a new wearable during the launch, the Huawei Watch GT. So far, the company has never launched any Mate branded device in the country.
The Mate 20 X is priced at €899 (Rs 76,400 approximately) for 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, and it will go on sale starting November 26.
The event is scheduled to take place at 2.00PM BST or 6.30PM IST. People will be able to watch the whole event live on the company's official YouTube channel, as well as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages. You can also follow indianexpress.com, for all live updates.
Both the standard Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro have a triple-camera set-up on the back and a 24-megapixel selfie camera on the front; they both are powered by Huawei's own 7-nanometre chip set with a dual-NPU (neural processing unit); and both run the latest Android 9.0 with Huawei's own software skin on top. All conclusions preliminary pending full Huawei Mate 20 Pro review.
Elsewhere the specs are similar to Huawei's main flagship, including a Kirin 980 chipset, a triple-lens camera, a 4,200mAh battery and an in-screen fingerprint scanner.
The phone will come in 6GB/8GB RAM variants.
Battery is also vastly improved, with the Pro offering up to 70% in 30 minutes via super charge and 58% in the same time for the normal Mate. Huawei insisted on stage that its Mate 20 phones are the best phones out there when it comes to processor and RAM speed, Wi-Fi downloads, Global Positioning System accuracy, camera performance, and battery performance. It's using an OLED panel and has a resolution of 2244 x 1080. The phone is tipped to come with 6GB of RAM and a 4,200mAh battery.
Huawei is also targeting Samsungs Note flagships with the introduction of the M-Pen.
The Mate 20 retains a fingerprint sensor on its rear, and keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom as well.
While the new phones have three cameras from famed German camera maker Leica on their rear - a regular lens, a telephoto lens and a wide-angle lens - there are slight differences between the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro.
