Gary Neville Makes Huge Claim on Liverpool's Champions League Ambitions This Season

Tottenham suffer Alli’s blow for visit of Liverpool

After finishing runners-up in last season's Champions League, Liverpool are only looking up, with winning the Premier League their main priority.

"How should that work?"

The Belgian defender's future with Spurs looked done and dusted after he was frozen out at the end of last season after reportedly failing to agree a new contract.

The Merseyside outfit earned huge amounts of praise for their fine form in Europe least season as they reached the Champions League final but ended up losing to Real Madrid.

The Argentinian said: "He needs to provide the team with his best, but maybe in the circumstances we are like a team, or when he plays with England it's maybe not the best conditions for a striker to give the best".

"It's our fifth season at Tottenham and if someone knows him really well I think we do".

"You don't then turn around and say well, even though we told you we've got Champions League football to play we are just going to play the kids, you're not going to be involved in this".

"How do you prepare for a game when you don't focus on it?"

Alisson and Keita are set to play a crucial role all season for the Anfield outfit and there is real excitement among the Liverpool camp that this could finally be their year to land some much-needed silverware. I don't know exactly what it means but to focus on one competition can only be if maybe you are already out of the competition almost.

Klopp also provided an update on Fabinho and suggests the midfielder is going to have to bide his time before breaking in to the first team.

The £43.7million summer arrival has not featured in the matchday squad since being an unused substitute on the opening day of the campaign as he has been given time to adjust to Klopp's training methods.

"It's absolutely no problem".

Chelsea will be welcoming Cardiff City to Stamford Bridge as they will be looking to continue their flawless start of the season.

"Facing up against the likes of PSG, against Napoli and to sit here in September and tell these players to never mind that, I think flies in the face of everything that you sold them on", he concluded.

"He came from another league playing in a completely different system to us and that takes time. The plan was and still is that he will make us better".
