Tiger Woods scored his first victory in more than five years on Sunday, completing a two-shot win at the Tour Championship to crown a fairytale comeback after a almost two-year absence.

Justin Rose of Great Britain, on the strength of a 18th hole birdie, won the FedEx Cup playoffs, making him the season-long champion of the PGA Tour.

"I was having a hard time not crying", Woods said. I've been playing well throughout the entire summer, just piecing it together, building, building and building.

"For me, I was trying to do my best to win this golf tournament and scoop the double jackpot.

To get 80 is a pretty damn good feeling", Woods added.

"My body was a wreck", recalled Woods, who hoped the surgery would alleviate debilitating back and leg pain.
