A son of the late Zimbabwe all-rounder Kevin Curran and brother of England paceman Tom, he added it had been an education to bowl to Kohli. Kohli celebrated reaching the landmark by kissing his wedding ring.

Virat Kohli single-handedly kept India in the first Test with his maiden hundred in England but the captain would still rate the memorable knock second to his 141 in a lost run-chase against Australia in Adelaide nearly four years ago.

On the work front, Anushka will soon begin promotions of her upcoming film Sui Dhaaga which also stars Varun Dhawan.

Thanks to Kohli, India were eventually dismissed for 274 - for a first-innings deficit of 13 runs - having been 3-59, 5-100 and 7-169 at various stages.

And when a two off Rashid toook him to 135, it meant Kohli had made more runs than he did in the whole of his maiden Test series in England in 2014, when he managed a meagre 134 runs in 10 innings.

After restoring parity on day two of the opening Test in Edgbaston thanks to Virat Kohli's stunning century, the visitors will look forward to cut short England's lead on Friday.

Malan plays a nice, guided thick edge off Shami, sending the ball wide of third man and to the boundary.

The one disappointment for Kohli was being unable to take a small lead, which became his new target as India advanced towards the England total.

He dived to his left at gully in an attempt to catch Kohli off Anderson but the ball did not quite carry and appeared to clip his fingertip. It helped that Anderson and Broad bowled fuller early in their spells and didn't get the ball to move around as much as the Indian pacers did on day one.

"It just happens to be the ball before I got out and suddenly there's a huge sort of hoo-ha about a pigeon".

But the introduction of Curran turned the tide in England's favour.

Two balls later Curran dismissed KL Rahul via a flat-bat drag-on.

But one positive for the tourists to grab hold off while they bite into their cucumber sandwiches is the fact that Virat Kohli is still at the crease on 53 not out.

Things could have been worse as three balls later, Kohli (on 0*) edged Anderson to Jos Buttler at gully with the fielder failing to latch onto a tough chance despite putting in a fine dive.
