Pedro Pens New Chelsea Contract

Michy Batshuayi

Chelsea transfer news Michy Batshuayi looks like he could remain at Stamford Bridge

Courtois missed the Blues' 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield, as he is still on holiday following his Belgium exploits in the World Cup.

Carlo Cudicini, another former Chelsea goalkeeper, remains as assistant to Sarri.

Sarri will set the framework from the touchlines, and Jorginho will set the tone on the pitch as Chelsea look to pose a challenge to City this season, both in results and style. 'It depends especially on him I think. I want only players who play with a very high level of motivation.

"My will is staying at the club, unless they want to sell me".

However, Sarri had no such confidence over keeper Thibaut Courtois.

Despite some encouraging moments towards the end of the first half, Chelsea performed in disjointed fashion at Wembley and were fortunate not to concede more goals than one in each half to Sergio Aguero.

"I don't know. We are trying", he said when asked whether Riyad Mahrez would be joined by another major arrival in this window. "We have very good midfielders, but maybe a midfielder with different characteristics".

Sarri said: "Loftus-Cheek I have seen him just for three, four trainings. But we have it all to start well in the league".

Chelsea playmaker Pedro has signed a one-year contract extension to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge until 2020, the Premier League club has said.

"I want to win, because it's very important to have immediately a trophy".

Bournemouth will be hoping to wrap up the signing of Colombian defensive midfielder Jefferson Lerma for a club-record fee.

Willian has been linked with an exit and Pedro may have more of an important role this season.
