The "Queen of Soul" has been battling numerous health problems which caused her to cancel a concert series a year ago, per doctor's orders, according to BET.

Previous year also saw her release her most recent record, "A Brand New Me", which marked her 42nd studio album. She had to cancel two major shows, and it got the rumor mill stirring once again.

The soul singer has not been seen in public since November past year, where she looked frail as she performed at the 25th anniversary of Elton John's AIDS Foundation in NY.

She is said to be surrounded by friends and family, who are asking for prayers.

The Queen of Soul cancelled several concerts this year citing health issues.

"I don't know where pancreatic cancer came from", she told Access Hollywood at the time. Yet reports by the National Enquirer put her extreme weight loss down to a cancer relapse and chemotherapy in 2017.

BATTLE: Aretha was reportedly diagnosed with cancer in 2010.

Friedman's words do not paint the picture of a hopeful recovery, stating that Franklin will be "missed as a mother, sister, friend, cousin".

When Aretha was just 2 the family left Memphis for New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit, and a Motor City legend was ready to be born.

Franklin won her first Grammy Award in her mid-20s, going on to win an additional 19 gongs throughout her career.

Aretha was the fist ever woman inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1987; and topped Rolling Stone's Greatest Artists Of All Time list. Her undisclosed illness has resulted in several concert cancelations.
