Pike arrives in the classic yellow Star Trek: The Original Series uniform but quickly ditches it for the Discovery blue and gold.
CBS All-Access dropped the trailer for the second season ofStar Trek: Discovery at San Diego Comic-Con International Friday afternoon.
Star Trek: Discovery's debut season concluded with a shocking blast from the franchise's past: the original series' Enterprise, face-to-face with Burnham and the crew of the Discovery. Another installment will focus on a man who finds himself the only human on board a deserted ship. Additional episodes include a deep dive into Saru's (Doug Jones) backstory as the first Kelpien to join Starfleet, and Tilly's (Mary Wiseman) journey aboard the U.S.S. Discovery and her friendship with an unlikely partner.
The long-awaited first look at Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 has finally entered our orbit. To top it off? The show has gone through a behind-the-scenes change as well, as showrunners Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts were fired in the midst of production on Season 2. It also introduces guest star Tig Notaro, who will appear as chief engineer Reno, and a new Starfleet officer named Linus, a Saurian. Kurtzman announced the plan for Star Trek: Short Treks at today's panel. And not just her recent problems with the betrayal of her ex-Captain, Lorca, but her complicated family history with Sarek and particularly her relationship with her Vulcan half-brother, Spock, who was re-confirmed as appearing in the season.
As for Culber, he's returning, said Wilson Cruz. You can also see a shot of the Enterprise in the trailer, all shiny and new. However, the new trailer certainly looks like the show has not missed a beat.
The tie-ins to the original series continue with hints that Doctor Spock's set to play a key role in the season - with an SDCC panel confirming that he'll make an appearance in person.
