Firefighters increased containment of a central San Diego County fire that rapidly spread over 400 acres, destroyed 18 structures and damaged eight.
"Most of our active fires are occurring right now in the Rocky Mountain area which includes Colorado as well as the Great Basin area which includes Utah, Nevada and Idaho", Jones said.
In the mean time, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office is assisting residents who live in the mandatory evacuation area with collecting necessities from their homes, like clothing and medication.
The fire's spread was stopped at about 100 acres (40.5 hectares) or less and teams were working on an accurate tally of damage in the neighborhood, where some houses were in ruins while homes next door were intact.
"It's really given us a good opportunity to get in there and get some work done", said county fire Capt. Dave Zaniboni.
The governor has declared states of emergency in Siskiyou, San Diego and Santa Barbara counties this week due to fires.
The blaze crossed into Oregon, but by Saturday afternoon, much of the fire that had pushed across the state line just east of Interstate 5 had died down and began burning south again, said Melissa Cano, public information officer with the Oregon Department of Forestry.
Residents should be aware of low air quality as they return home and of some flames and smoke visible within the fire perimeter.
"After this Fourth of July weekend, we have been going hard and long", said Charley Burns, fire unit manager for the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Amidst the devastation, some firefighters from Denver at the Spring Fire helped reunite a pet with her owner.

The fire is one of several that have ignited in southern California Friday, where temperatures topped 100 degrees.
It also offered relief in the southern Colorado mountains where a blaze has destroyed over 130 homes and forced the evacuation of at least 2,000 properties.

Other incident commanders have told Noozhawk that, based on aerial observations, they believe only 14 structures were destroyed.
Most evacuation orders for the Holiday Fire area were lifted Saturday afternoon as cooler temperatures and calmer winds allowed firefighters to push containment of the destructive blaze in the Goleta foothills to 80 percent.
Authorities said one person was killed in the fire.
Other major fires in the state are close to being fully contained.
