Durant scores 43, Warriors take 3-0 NBA Finals lead over Cavs

With Warriors guard Stephen Curry suffering a rare off-night, putting up a paltry 3-of-16 shooting, it looked like the Cavs might have a chance to breathe some life back into the series and they led by six at the half.

The motto throughout the playoffs for the Cavaliers has been "Whatever It Takes" to survive, advance and win a title. For James, this is not uncharted territory being the underdog. According to Haynes, Iguodala sprinted full speed without pain, one of the prerequisites for head coach Steve Kerr to consider putting him on the court during the NBA Finals. He was becoming a quality National Basketball Association player in Utah.

In his playoff career spanning the last six postseasons, Curry has shot a strong 41.0 percent from downtown. Smith? He had three points in the second half. Which, needless to say, his team will need in order to win.

James ended up playing 47 out of 48 minutes in Game 3.

On the eve of Game 3 of the Warriors-Cavaliers series, politics dominated the conversation. Yet, heading into this Finals series, most talk centered around James and last year's Finals MVP Kevin Durant. The Warriors are trying to join a select list of teams to win three championships in four years. In his first appearance, he lost to the Spurs in the middle of their dynasty with Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili in their primes. The rim grew wide for the Cavaliers' role players.

Curry said the team has been on the same page after his comments past year and Trump's subsequent revoking of the Warriors' invitation. Villanova, the reigning NCAA men's champion, has not revealed if an invitation was sent.

Maybe it's an unwritten rule among analysts and fans, but doesn't it seem like you have to give James at least a game in any series?

With Curry and Thompson non-factors much of the game, combining for 21 points on 7 for 27 combined shooting, Durant finished with a playoff career-best 43 points. "When you're the biggest Finals underdogs in almost 30 years, you can't really run your mouth too much". The effort to spread the ball around was concerted as James logged nine first-half assists. He is also a facilitator for his team as he is the primary ball handler running the offense. He's a great decision-maker, and he's an excellent defender as well.

There are multiple potential landing spots for James, but it really is quite up in the air right now.

LeBron James laughed as he came around the backstage partition after arriving fashionably late for his crowded, post-practice news conference. When you're focusing on those three guys, other guys are going to get shots. So what would another loss to his Finals resume to do his legacy and his status in the GOAT debate? He was his best self, and he played within the Warriors system.

The Cavaliers, meanwhile, are in a hole that might as well be 6 feet deep. His numbers do not lie either.

Without Iguodala, LeBron James has scored 51 points in Game 1 and 29 in Game 2.

Another momentous shot for Durant.

"That was incredible what he did out there tonight", Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.

And when James did get his first bucket. If the bone bruise in his knee is sufficiently healed, it could allow Golden State to put him on James in hopes that he can slow the superstar down just enough to lessen Cleveland's chances of an upset. Thompson struggled as well, though he came alive for a couple of key buckets in the third quarter.
