Xiaomi Mi 8: Release date, specs, features and price

The TV has been announced at Xiaomi's event in Shenzhen where the company also announced the Mi 8 flagship.

Just like the Mi 8, the Mi 8 SE also has a dual camera setup with a 12 MP primary camera with an f/1.7 aperture and a 5 MP secondary depth sensor.

The Explorer Edition features a number of experimental new features, including a see-through glass back, a pressure-sensitive fingerprint scanner built into the display and an iPhone X-esque face unlock using infrared light. As of the processor, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. The Mi 8 uses a 6.21-inch FHD+ Samsung AMOLED full screen display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio and 86.68% screen-to-body ratio. OxygenOS running on Snapdragon 845 + 8GB of RAM makes it one of the fastest operating Android smartphones in 2018. The Redmi Y2 is expected to sport a 16-megapixel resolution selfie camera on the front with a soft LED flash and AI Beauty feature.

Up front, there's a 20MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture that uses pixel binning to create larger virtual pixels, for improved photography.

Around back, you'll find a familiar-looking vertically-arranged dual camera array consisting of two 12-megapixel shooters.

Xiaomi is known for affordable phones, and the Mi 8 is no exception: It will retail for around $421 in China (but there's no word on the price in other markets, including the U.S.) yet.

There is also a higher variant of the band that also features NFC support for quick connectivity.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 comes with a replaceable silicone band, and you will need to take it out of that strap when it needs to be charged, though luckily, you won't have to do that for quite some time, as it sports a black and white display yet again, as was the case with the Mi Band 2. The EE also gets a bespoke transparent glass backside that shows off the internals.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE features a 5.88-inch display, but it's still AMOLED.

Driving all the technology is Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 710. The smartphone will come with a Hybrid Dual-SIM slot configuration, so expanding the storage further might be a tough choice for some of you. Some of them are Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Mi 5, Mi Max 2, Redmi 5A etc. Xiaomi will have a separate announcement for the India release date of MIUI 10 as it has done in the past. MIUI 10 got a new driving mode for voice-activated control of features like navigation and text messaging while its owner shepherds several tons of steel, aluminum, and glass at high speed.

Besides security, the 3D infrared camera is used for...an Animoji clone.
