Chelsea's hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League were boosted with victory over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, manager Antonio Conte has put the cat between the pigeons, calling Liverpool's foray into the finals of the Champions League as somewhat lucky as they managed to avoid the big European teams in the draw.

In a dramatic conclusion to the top four battle, Chelsea, who are three points behind Liverpool, host struggling Huddersfield on Wednesday and Tottenham face Newcastle the same evening.

The Reds will be without Adam Lallana, that despite being back to full training, will not be ready for the game on Sunday.

Salah was given a chance to impress in Chelsea's home clash with Norwich City towards the end of the season but Mourinho chose to haul his January signing off at the break after a subdued first half.

When speaking to the Telegraph, the centre-back revealed that he is still eager to win more despite the few that doubt his status at Chelsea. I knew him when he played in Italy but it would be very hard to predict this type of season.

"You must be good to deserve it, but at the same time you must be lucky".

"Luck is always important in every competition, but when you have the possibility to play 38 games you can show you are the best".

Liverpool looked set to secure a place in the top four last month when they comfortably beat Bournemouth 3-0 just days after knocking Manchester City out of the Champions League quarter-finals with a 5-1 aggregate win.

Antonio Conte, on the other hand, is desperate for a result against Liverpool and keep their momentum going, with Chelsea now on a three game winning-streak.

On a scorching afternoon in the capital it required a great deal of commitment to ensure Chelsea saw the game out, and the players responded by giving their all, with eight of the 11 starters covering over 10 km in the Bank Holiday heat.

Liverpool pressed but Chelsea held on to move within three points of the visitors who are third.

"We have two semis again against Chelsea and Brighton and then we have two weeks".
