CWG 2018: India finishes third with 26 gold medals

Commonwealth Games gymnast's hilarious 'rainbow bum' move after Channel 7 editing fail

Live: Commonwealth Games Day 10 on the Gold Coast

The surprise decision of Commonwealth Games organisers to overlook athletes at the closing ceremony has sparked a mass walkout and triggered enormous backlash from fans. Barely halfway through the program, more than 130,000 of the 250,000 condoms provided for athletes in thevillage had been claimed.

The failure to appropriately acknowledge the athletes was slammed by Channel 7 broadcasters Johanna Griggs, a 1990 swimming Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, and Basil Zempilas, while viewers also vented their frustration on social media.

"The athletes would not have enjoyed last night".

"They made the decision not to have the actual athletes enter the stadium, they made the decision not to show the flag-bearers and I'm furious", Griggs said.

The Athletes walked into the Stadium in the pre-show of the Ceremony and before the spectacle was broadcast live. "They made a decision not to have athletes enter the stadium. Again, we got that wrong", he wrote.

"I've never been in a stadium or a Games like that where there are so many people cheering for you and rooting for you", LePage said after his medal win. Forgotten in the successful completion of the Games was the fact that a few won, while others couldn't.

Empty seats were everywhere.

"I need to go back up there and find my bike, hopefully".

"It sort of felt like we were left out a little bit".

After hugging Callea, Bolt bizarrely pretended he was "on the decks" but his supposed DJ cameo did not fool anybody.

Despite the finale being heavily criticised, Gold Coast Commonwealth Games organising committee chairman Peter Beattie labelled the last 11 days as "innovative" and "inspirational". "We did something special on the Gold Coast and it was one of the best weeks of my life", he said.

India had a stellar showing at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, where it finished third on the medal table behind Australia and England.

It was hard to argue with him on either point.

Sunrise's David Koch called Mr Beattie out over the excuse of considering the "welfare of athletes", with previous closing ceremonies always featuring the athletes.

English city Birmingham was awarded the next Games in 2022 after original hosts Durban were stripped of the multi-sport event for failing to meet Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) deadlines.

Not that there were many athletes to watch it.

Kenya finished a lowly 14th as the 21st Commonwealth Games ended in Gold Coast, Australia, yesterday.
