Realtech VR is also providing the remastered versions of the "Tomb Raider" games 1 to 3 for free to those who already own them via Steam. However, they're the original DOS ports running through an emulator, which throws up a bunch of performance, resolution and control problems. These mobile ports have been received relatively well (Tomb Raider has a 3.8 user rating on the Google Play store, and Tomb Raider II has a 3.9), but still, you may want to temper expectations a bit.
According to the tweet by Realtech VR (via PC Gamer), the company has confirmed that they are working on remasters of Tomb Raider 1, 2, and 3 which will be coming soon to Steam. Thankfully, the remasters will have modern systems in mind, thus being able to run on handsome graphics, at 1080p and 60fps.
The original three Tomb Raider games are getting remasters for the PC. The classics will benefit of a new 3D engine, thus obtaining improved lighting and shadow effects, as well as advanced post-processing filters. Additionally, the remasters get full controller support for modern gamepads, which is awesome! "When I was brought in, it was very much the studio mandate and the producers' mandate that we should very much lean into the strength of the game", she said, specifically citing the game's "more nuanced" portrayal of Lara. Basically the remasters will use the original games' install packages, and that is why the remasters will only be available on Steam, too. While some are comparing Vikander with Jolie, others do not seem happy with the video game series being rebooted into a movie. There will be news in the upcoming months.
If you haven't played the video game, most of the action sequences will leave you shaking your head.
"So, that was the journey we wanted to tell". As always, stay tuned for anything gaming-related!
