A most unusual Winter Olympics concludes

Anarchy is an uneasy bedfellow with the all-conquering Olympic movement, but the Winter Games always seem to sit in some way separate from the interminable cycle of fund-and-reward which blights so many major sporting events, and these last two weeks have been no different. During the opening ceremony, the both North Korea and South Korea walked in together under one united Korea flag.

North Korea also sent cheerleaders and musicians to the Games, while Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, attended the opening ceremony and met with Moon. "If we said we'll dish the money out to everybody regardless of how they perform and see what happens next, we'll be back to Atlanta".

The vast majority of Olympic Games, both summer and winter, have been hosted by one country, but there are precedents for the event not to be held entirely in one country.

"Here in Korea, we will continue our endeavor to broaden the horizon of peace that began in Pyeonchang".

The 2018 Pyeongchang Games will remain an event remembered by both its great victories and hard disappointments.

In total, 28 Ontario athletes reached the highest level of their sport by securing a spot on the Olympic podium for Team Canada. The team was introduced as Team Russia and the athletes were under the name "Olympic Athletes from Russia".

They did so while trying to make it appear as though the intrusion was conducted by North Korea, what is known as a "false-flag" operation, said two US officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter. Hosts South Korea were seventh.

The Russian men's team defied International Olympic Committee rules by belting out the anthem at their medal ceremony following Sunday's 4-3 overtime win against Germany in the gold-medal game. The ban stemmed from an investigation that revealed widespread, government-sponsored doping.

Internationally, they were a Games blighted by the semantic nonsense of the "Olympic Athletes from Russia", and rouged by the constant presence of the 500-strong North Korean cheerleading squad, spuriously politicised in the pursuit of IOC-brokered peace on the Korean peninsula.

Gerard had many more extremely relatable moments during his time in PyeongChang, like when he dropped the f-bomb on live television when he was celebrating his win and his love for burritos.

However, the International Olympic Committee did not allow the OAR team to march under the Russian flag in the closing ceremony.

Medals were handed out in women's curling, the four-man bobsled, men's hockey and the women's 50-kilometer cross-country mass start race.

Figure skater Adam Rippon and Skier Gus Kenworthy developed an wonderful friendship at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Team U.S.A.'s women's hockey team beat Canada three to two for the Olympic gold.

What did you think of Exo and CL's performance at the Closing Ceremony?

It was her fifth medal at the Pyeongchang Games, and her 15th overall.

Australians have cheered their Olympic heroes from Edwin Flack to Scotty James wherever they have competed but there is something special about Australians who have won Olympic gold on home soil. Prior to the Games, the USOC projected Team USA would win 37 medals; they won 23. However, the assessment of several events, most notably figure skating, has been particularly cruel.

The crowd let out a huge roar when the athletes, many waving flags and dancing with each other, entered the stadium to a live band playing Korean music.

Given the time difference in South Korea, the lack of transcendent American stars and the prevailing trends in linear television, it was nearly inevitable that the 2018 Olympics would decline in viewership from the 2014 iteration, and indeed they did.
