Bill Gates - Gates owes his $90 billion in net worth to Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), which he founded back in 1975.

The improvement in Mr Bezos' fortune is the biggest on record. The group's wealth totals $9.1 trillion, up 18 percent since previous year, Forbes said Tuesday. Amazon's shares have almost doubled from 846 dollars a share last March to 1,523 dollars per share last night.

Unlike Forbes, which made its calculations based partly on stock wealth on February 9 this year, Bloomberg updates its billionaires list every day.

Mining mogul Gina Rinehart remains Australia's richest citizen with her iron ore wealth increasing from $US17.2 billion ($21.9 billion) to $US17.4 billion ($22.2 billion).

Luisa Kroll and Kerry Dolan, from Forbes Media, said: "The superrich continue to get richer, widening the gap between them and everyone else". Gates, Zuckerberg, and Buffett are at least a $1 billion richer.

No. 4 is chairman and CEO of luxury goods company LVMH Bernard Arnault and his family, with $72 billion.

Who are the richest people in the world? The top 20 alone are worth $1.2 trillion, or roughly Mexico's yearly economic output. His fortune is up from $US75.6bn a year earlier.

US President Donald Trump s ranking on the list fell to 766th place from 544th in the last edition, his wealth now being estimated at $3.1 billion, $400 million less than a year ago.

According to Daily News, Trump Tower, the President's NY home, lost an estimated $41 million in value past year.

Trump reached a 25m dollar settlement in a legal dispute about claims that his Trump University real estate courses allegedly defrauded students. (NASDAQ:FB) CEO now has a net worth of $71 billion thanks to his popular social media platforms.
