Adult film star Stormy Daniels has been embroiled in a potential scandal involving President Donald Trump as details of their affair going public allegedly violated a nondisclosure agreement.

Her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, said on morning news shows Wednesday that she wants "to set the record straight".

Daniels has previously asserted that her affair with the real estate mogul had occurred in 2006, while Trump was married to Melania.

Instead, just Daniels and Cohen allegedly signed the non-disclosure agreement on October 28, 2016, the lawsuit said.

Keith M. Davidson, the lawyer who represented Daniels (and another adult entertainer, Karen McDougal, who signed a similar agreement with Trump), has not offered a comment on the situation.

Avenatti said Daniels wasn't looking to profit from her story.

Avenatti told NBC News on Wednesday that Cohen also obtained a secret restraining order through the private arbitration proceeding and barring her from publicly discussing her allegations against Trump. She said the relationship included encounters in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and Beverly Hills, California.

Club owner Ed Thompson confirmed this booking was signed three weeks ago before the legal challenge was announced and hopes that doesn't keep her from appearing in Cleveland.

"Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly", Cohen said in a statement at the time.

The lawsuit charges that the October 28, 2016 "hush agreement" is legally invalid because it was only signed by Clifford and Cohen.

The complaint, which was posted online Tuesday by her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, claimed the so-called "Hush Agreement" that Daniels signed regarding her relationship with Trump was invalid because Trump never signed it himself.

"Put simply, considerable steps have been taken by Mr. Cohen in the last week to silence Ms. Clifford through the use of an improper and procedurally defective arbitration proceeding hidden from public view", the suit argues.
