Company officials recently announced that Toys "R" Us will shutter its hundreds of stores across the nation, but before that happens, inventory will be sold off at deep discounts during liquidation sales. "It's a shame that it's going out of business because a lot of us grew up with Toys R Us".

Outside, customers greeted news of the toy store's demise with a mix of sadness and nostalgia. Endless earnings in the form of e-gift cards will be accepted for 30 days past March 23.

"It's contagious, it's a great environment, it's fun to come to work", says Sherry Stone, manager at the Cotswold Village location of Toys & Co.

At the mall, Toys R Us shares a 63,000-square-foot building, built in 1994, with an Ulta Beauty cosmetic store, according to city records.

Larian said about 130,000 U.S.jobs are at risk, not only at Toys R Us but at suppliers, distribution centers, trucking companies and other firms tied to the retailer. He switched again, to toys, to get customers to return more frequently.

As Toys R Us launches a liquidation sale, many shoppers at the store say there's a sense of loss.

Almost every parking space was filled at the Warwick location Friday with the liquidation sales beginning. Store furniture and fixtures are also likely to be up for sale.
