TVS Motor rides into 125cc segment

TVS Motor Company, a leading manufacturer of two-wheelers and three-wheelers in the world, today, announced its foray in the 125cc scooter segment with the launch of TVS NTORQ 125.

The NTorq 125's design has been derived from the NTorq concept scooter that was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2016. The TVS Ntorq 125 boasts several segment-first features.

Commenting at the launch event, KN Radhakrishnan, president and CEO, TVS Motor Company, said, "Scooterisation in India, presented us with opportunities to create customer delight with targeted offerings across different customer segments".

So, what are your thoughts on the new TVS Ntorq 125 automatic scooter? The scooter also marks the launch of an exclusive technology platform - TVS SmartXonnect. This Bluetooth-enabled technology is paired to the NtTorq mobile app and provides first-in-segment additions like a fully-digital speedometer, navigation assist, top-speed recorder, in-built lap timer, phone battery strength display, last parked location assist, service reminder, tripmeter and multi-ride statistic modes such as Street and Sport. Moreover, the company also released a teaser video of the scooter which gives an impression on the exhaust note which sounds quite heavy and loud. Details on the powertrain aren't out yet but expect to see a 125 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine powering the upcoming TVS Graphite-based scooter. It has a ground clearance of 155mmm, kerb weight of 116.1 kg and wheelbase of 1285mm. The front wheel gets ventilated petal disc while the rear wheel gets drum brake. The front telescopic suspension gets a 30mm travel and rear gets a gas charged monoshock. It will come in matte yellow, matte green, matte red and matte white colour variants. The NTORQ125 goes up against the likes of the Honda Grazia, Suzuki Access 125 and the Vespa 125.
